By mid-August, the average family with children in grades K-12 had completed just half of their back-to-school shopping, according to the National Retail Federation’s 2014 Back-to-School Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics. Now nearing the finish line, that family will likely ring up a total of $669.28 on clothes, shoes, supplies and electronics.
