Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic is expected to make an announcement at noon, a hospital spokesman said. Hospital spokesman Ethan Fogg said a statement would be released then, though he would not comment ahead of time on the nature of the announcement.

He would also not confirm or comment on rumors of layoffs expected at the hospital and clinic.

On Thursday, the hospital announced the departure of its longtime chief executive officer, John Galati. Appointed to replace Galati was general surgeon Dr. Lewis Zulick, acting as interim CEO, though the hospital said it did “not intend to open a search for a permanent CEO at this time.”

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Rochester General Hospital, Marty Aarons, responding to questions via email, said Friday morning that RGH is in discussion with Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic “about a possible affiliation.”

The discussions do not involve “a takeover” or “buyout,” Aarons stated.
“There are no details to share yet …but whatever the case, (Clifton Springs) would retain local control and its independence,”  Aarons said.
