  • Macedon/Victor—David N. Hawkins, age 78, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 with his family by his side.
There will be no prior calling. A celebration of David’s life will be offered at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Willowbrook Christian Church, 619 High St., Victor. Interment private. Memorials in memory of David may be directed to Lifetime Care.
Predeceased by his parents, Jean and Norris Hawkins, David is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; daughter Pamela; son Mark (Lori) Hawkins; grandchildren Chad, Lucas and Jacob; great grandchildren Andrew and Aidan. David is also survived by his only brother Paul (Sue) Hawkins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David lived a very active life. He had a strong sense of community and could often be found helping out his neighbors. He graduated from Penn State University and then obtained his masters degree from RIT. He was the past mayor of Victor and has been described as being a “hands on mayor”. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed a life time of hunting, especially with his son and friends. He was actively involved in the development of Fisher’s Park. His enjoyment for the outdoors carried over to his gardens. David’s family was a priority and was involved in activities that allowed them to spend time together. Both he and his son, Mark, spent many years participating in dirt track racing.  He was an organizer for the Victor Pop Warner and Vince Lombardi Football programs and was an associate member of the Jaycee Club.  The Victor Chamber of Commerce recognized David as 1983 Citizen of the Year. In his early years, David went to work for Stromberg Carlson and then Xerox, before going to work for Ultrafab in Farmington where he became VP of manufacturing and engineering.
