  • Jessica Tallinger of Walworth and Lisa McCartney of Savannah were named to the dean's list at Paul Smith's College for the spring 2013 semester. Tallinger majors in baking and pastry arts. Tallinger was also named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8. McCartney majors in culinary arts and service management. Haley Shear of Newark earned the dean's award at Colgate University for the spring 2013 semester. To be eligible for the dean's award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 GPA while enrolled in at least four courses. Shear, an English major, is a graduate of Newark High School. The following area students were named to dean's list at Genesee Community College for the spring 2013 semester. Lyons: Kristen Williams; Marion: Bryan Pankiw; Newark: Jared VanDusen; Ontario: Nicole Ikewood. To be named to the dean's list at Genesee Community College, students must earn a GPA of 3.50 to 3.74 for the semester. Stephanie Farbizio and Alicia Norton of Walworth graduated from Mercyhurst University during the university's commencement weekend held May 18-19. Farbizio earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied forensic sciences and Norton also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied forensic sciences. The following local students graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology during a commencement ceremony held on May 17. Clyde: Ashley Bailey, James Humbert; Marion: Kevin Venable, Michael Wind; Newark: Kimberly Prinzi; North Rose: Dustin Robertson; Ontario: Brittany Ambeau, Paul Forsay, James Stockschlaeder, William Swift, Brent Switzer; Palmyra: Kristen Cummings; Red Creek: Evan Emmert, Lindsey Johnson; Savannah: Jennifer Gillette; Sodus: Kayleah Gee; Walworth: Ryan Fly, Tiffany Reeder; Williamson: Stephanie Bowles, Ryan Garrod; Wolcott: Jeremy Decausemaker. Tim Diller and Taylor Wroblewski have been named orientation leaders at Nazareth College to help welcome the Class of 2017 in August. Diller is a resident of Madedon and Wroblewski is a resident of Marion. Jessica Tallinger of Walworth graduated from Paul Smith's College during a commencement ceremony held on May 11. Tallinger earned an associate of applied science in baking and pastry arts. The following local students graduated from Ithaca College during a commencement ceremony held on May 19. Jeremy Ehlinger, Ontario, majored in drama. James Munro, Ontario, majored in physics. Jacklyn Boss, Walworth, majored in clinical health studies. Chelsea Young, Williamson, majored in occupational therapy. Jacqueline Keating, Palmyra, major in communication, management and design. The following area students were named to the dean's list at Ithaca College for the spring 2013 semester. Jacklyn Boss of Walworth, Chelsea Young of Williamson, MacKenzie Sergeant of Sodus, Alec Staples of Newark and Lia Munoz of Macedon. Hannah Vair and Lauren Modzelewski were named to dean's list at The College of Saint Rose for the spring 2013 semester. Vair is a resident of Newark and Modzelewski is a resident of Marion. To be named to the dean's list at The College of Saint Rose, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester GPA of at least 3.5. Olivia Scheibel of Walworth was awarded the Order of the Engineer at a ceremony at the Rochester Institute of Technology in May. Scheibel is working toward a degree in mechanical engineering from RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering. The Order of the Engineer, a national recognition, is given to graduates and registered engineers to foster the spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession. Olivia Thurston of Sodus was named to the dean's list at Union College for the spring 2013 semester. Thurston is a 2012 graduate of Sodus High Schoool. To be named to the dean's list at Union College, students must receive a 3.5 GPA for the entire academic year. They also must meet several other requirements to be awarded the honor.
