Bobcats Baseball completed its 12U season with a 16-4 victory over the Buffalo Wings in the championship game of the Buffalo Wings Summer Bash
On Sunday, Aug. 11, Bobcats Baseball completed its 12U season with a 16-4 victory over the Buffalo Wings in the championship game of the Buffalo Wings Summer Bash. The win capped a magical season for the Bobcats, who finished with an overall record of 53-6-1.
The season included six tournament championships: the Highlanders Invitational in Pittsford (four teams entered), the GLBL Memorial Day Tournament in Mentor, Ohio, (10 teams entered), the Darien Lake Tournament in Pembroke and Alexander (28 teams entered), the New Era Cap Classic in Lockport (25 teams entered), the Lancer Classic in Lewiston (24 teams entered), and the Buffalo Wings Summer Bash in Cheektowaga (10 teams entered).
The Bobcats were runners-up in the Boys of Summer Kickoff in Lockport (10 teams entered), and reached the semifinals in both the Moe’s Firecracker Blast in Georgetown, Del., (10 teams entered) and in the Louisville Slugger Wood Bat World Series in Monroeville, Penn., (9 teams entered). The Bobcats also made a deep run in late June at Cooperstown Dreams Park, reaching the Elite Eight among a field of 104 teams from across the United States and Canada.
After an early season loss in mid-April in the Bobcats fifth annual Early Bird Tournament to the Grow2Pro Tigers, the Bobcats went on to win 26 consecutive games before falling to the Warriors Baseball Club of Michigan, who went on to become the champions during week 4 at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The Bobcats finished the season with an 18-game winning streak, and back-to-back-to-back tournament championships in western New York.
Bobcats Baseball will field a 13U team during the 2014 season. Tryouts are scheduled at Buckland Park in Brighton (1341 Westfall Road) on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, Sept. 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A third tryout may be scheduled if necessary.
