A new farmer's market will make its debut in Penfield this weekend.
"We started from scratch," said Frances Grossman, co-owner of Grossmans Garden and Home.
She and husband Larry got the idea to start a market after visiting others in nearby Brighton and Rochester.
"As we reached out, we kept hearing from people that there was a need for another market," said Frances.
The outdoor market will feature 14 vendors when it opens on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Grossmans hope to keep it running each Sunday at the same year-round and move vendors inside during the winter.
"We'd like to use this as an outreach because our area is so rich with growers, producers and artisans. We want to be able to offer this opportunity to these folks so they can be able to share their creativity and passion," said Frances.
New vendors who are interested in getting involved may contact Rebecca Ward by calling 377-1982 ext. 224 for more information.
