Manchester—Roy L. Appell, 80, of Owasco, La., Manchester, died on Sept. 5, 2013, at the House of John in Clifton Springs.
There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1000 S. Main St., Newark. Arrangements are by Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home. Memorials can be sent to House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
Roy was born in Fayette, N.Y. on March 17, 1933, the son of William and Ruth Crosby Appell. He worked for Diamond Packing in Henrietta, and for most of his life, he worked for Bloomer Brothers & Fold-Pak in Newark. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Newark.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan VandenBussche Appell; four sons, Roy B. of Va., James (Helen) and Mark (Anna) of Newark and Douglas of Manchester; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Diamond of Coffman, Texas; six grandchildren; and one nephew. He was predeceased by son, Tim, in 2011.
