Kory Fogarty scored four TD's for the Indians

The Red Jacket Indians used a stellar ground game and key turnovers to get onto the board early and often in their matchup against the Lyons Lions Friday night, easily defeating the home team, 46-8.
The great start was a major key to the Indians' victory, according to head coach Marc Vitticore.
"We came out playing hard and fast in the first quarter, and I believe we established the ground game early," he said, "and that's what it takes to win against a good football team like Lyons."
Red Jacket got onto the board quickly, taking advantage of a nice return by Keith Rizzo on the opening kickoff to start a five-play drive capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by sophomore Dan Colasurdo.
It didn't take long before they scored again, as a fumble on Lyons' first play from scrimmage was recovered by senior defensive lineman Michael Newcomb. Kory Fogarty then broke at least two tackles on a touchdown run, the first of four for the junior.
Fogarty would later be humble in an assessment of his performance, instead praising his linemen.
"We came out hot, all I had to do was get the ball and the run through the holes they made," he said. "Nothing special about me."
Although the extra point would be no good, Red Jacket already had a 13-0 lead with only a little over three minutes passed. And the onslaught was not over. With about 7:54 left in the quarter, senior Ryan Sadler intercepted a Lyons pass, leading to another Indians drive that ended with a Fogarty touchdown, as well as a two-point conversion by junior running back Sean Sheets. Fogarty would add another touchdown with just under a minute left in the quarter, making the score 27-0.
The first quarter domination by Red Jacket could be seen in the numbers. At the end of the first quarter, Red Jacket had amassed 180 yards offense. In contract, Lyons had -20 yards.

"What are you going to do?" said Lyons head coach Randy Wadhams. "We got beat by a better team."
After the early fireworks, the game settled down, going scoreless in the second quarter. The second half, though, again saw Red Jacket's ground game take control, with Fogarty scoring his final touchdown of the game in the third quarter and Sheets breaking a 55-yard run early in the fourth to make the game 39-0.
Lyons would finally get on the board with about 5:36 left in the game, when Kyle Alexanian ran in for a score, followed by a two-point conversion.
Red Jacket immediately got those points back, though, as Sheets returned the kickoff all the way back for a touchdown, bringing about the final score of 46-8.
Red Jacket (2-0) and has won nine-straight regular season games, and will go for 10 on Sept. 21 at Dundee (2-0). Lyons (0-2) will travel to Marcus Whitman (0-2) on Sept. 20.
