Salmon Creek Auto won three-straight playoff games in one night to take home the Co-ed Softball Championship from Capizzo's Sports Park on Aug. 29.
After soundly defeating two teams, Salmon Creek Auto faced Capizzo's II for the championship. Salmon Creek narrowly beat its rival, 18-17, to take home the season trophy. In its first year of competition, Salmon Creek made it to the finals with a regular-season record of 12-1. Eleven teams have competed throughout the summer at Capizzo's Sports Park on Ridge Road in Ontario.
In celebration of the win, Randy VanSteen, team sponsor and owner of Salmon Creek Auto, and wife Kim, are donating funds to a local Boy Scout Eagle project to purchase a picnic table for the Pines of Peace Hospice on Ridge Road in Ontario.
"Sponsoring the team and supporting the Pines of Peace is our way of giving back to the community," said VanSteen. "Winning the championship our first year was unexpected, and really exciting."
