LYONS — The Lyons Public Library's book club, History's Footnotes, will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room to discuss "The underground, freedom's road: and other upstate tales" by Arch Merill.
The book tells of the secret network which helped thousands of runaway slaves escape to freedom in Canada through Central and Western New York. Personalities such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglas are featured. Other events relating to the Civil War and the last great gold rush to the Klondike are covered as well.
The Library is located at 122 Broad St. and parking is accessible from Phelps Street by the Lyons Town Hall. This program is free and open to the public.
