Five Brighton students were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries earlier today after a car hit the rear end of a bus traveling southbound on South Winton Road.
Sgt. Elena Correia of the Rochester Police Department said the official cause of the accident was "following too closely."
Susan Alldredge, 50 of Fairport, was driving the SUV that hit the bus carrying nine students in total at approximately 8:59 a.m. Parents were immediately notified, and Brighton school personnel, the Director of Transportation, Rochester City Police and First Responders reported to the scene.
Four students were transported to school and returned to class after an examination from the school nurse.
While the RPD had no updates on the condition of the students taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, Sgt. Correia said there were no serious injuries. "They were taken to the hospital for complaint of pain and precautionary reasons," she said.
