Edward Thomas Holland Jr., 68, entered eternal rest on Sept. 21 at Strong Memorial Hospital.
There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends may attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. Edward was born on Jan. 28, 1945, in Schenectady to the late Agnes Sullivan and Edward Holland Sr. After his mother passed away when he was five and a half years old, Edward went to live with his aunt Nora and uncle Nick. He attended Bishop Gibbons High School and graduated in 1963. After graduating high school, he attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie in hopes of obtaining a business administration degree. Edward met Marion Hackett in 1965, and the two got married on Oct. 7, 1967.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Erin (Wesley) Smith of Newark; three grandchildren, Matthew Holland, Rebecca Dennie and Emma Smith, all of Newark; mother of his child and friend, Marion Holland of Newark; aunt, Philomena Cassidy and cousin, Peter Cassidy, both of Boston, Mass.; and family pets, Bingo, Shadow, Pluto, Patches and Bo. Edward was predeceased by Nick and Nora Holland of Schenectady.
