  • Seaway Trail Inc. of Sackets Harbor published a 72-page guidebook to help travelers find historic sites in New York and Pennsylvania.
    The book, "Waterways of War: The War of 1812, A Traveler's Guide to the War of 1812 Forts, Battlefields and Historic Sites along America's Byways in New York and Pennsylvania," features an easy-to-read vignette style with 17 community-specific chapters including sites in Erie, Pa. and Buffalo, Lewiston, Youngstown, Rochester, Pultneyville, Sodus Point, Oswego, Sandy Creek, Sackets Harbor, Clayton, Alexandria Bay, Ogdensburg, Massena, Plattsburgh, Troy and Greenbush, N.Y. Historic Palmyra, Historic Sodus Point and Wayne County Tourism Office all contributed information, images and assistance to the book.
    The guidebook retails for $14.95 and is available at historic sites and through seawaytrail.com.
