Canandaigua city police have concluded their investigation into the death of Mr. James Wesley, 63, whose body was discovered in Canandaigua Lake on Sept. 14.
Police Sgt. Scott Kadien said Tuesday the investigation, now closed, established that Mr. Wesley's death was caused by drowning. He declined to comment on whether or not the autopsy found alcohol in Mr. Wesley's system.
A resident of Parrish Street, Mr. Wesley disappeared on Thursday, Sept. 12, leaving a few items of clothing on City Pier. A search in Canandaigua Lake by divers and other emergency responders ended Saturday morning when a person reported seeing a body in the lake in Gorham.
