Colin Hanks has joined the cast of FX's Fargo limited series, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
The 10-episode series, executive-produced by Joel and Ethan Coen, will feature a new true crime story with new characters, different from its big-screen predecessor of the same name.
The drama follows Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman), a small town Minnesota insurance salesman, similar to William H. Macy's sweet sad sack character in the original 1996 film. But everything will change for Lester when the manipulative Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thorton) comes to town.
The Dexter alum will play Police Deputy Gus Grimly, a single dad who has to choose between his personal safety and his duty as a policeman when he comes face-to-face with a killer.
Fargo is slated to debut in spring 2014.
