NEWARK — The Newark Public Library kicks off its 2013-2014 season on Friday, Oct. 11, with a book review by Newark resident Paul Murphy.
Murphy will discuss “The Last Winter of Dani Lansing”, by P.D. Viner. One reviewer reports: “A must read mystery/crime novel. This book was by far one of the best mystery/crime novels I have read this year. There were many twists and turns that kept me guessing right up to the last pages. The characters were well drawn, sad, empathetic, desperate and credible. P D Viner is a fantastic story teller, his settings are realistic and he writes with cinematic prowess.”
P.D. Viner, who is married to Murphy’s daughter, Mary Lynne, is an award winning film-maker and creator of the highly successful SmartPass audio guides. He has lived abroad for 10 years, working and studying in the USA, New Zealand and Russia, and has been a stand-up comedian, produced mime shows for Japanese TV and written theatre for the Shakespeare festival, produced in London and Verona.
Reservations for the noon luncheon are a must. Call the Library 331-4370 by Wednesday, Oct. 9. Lunch is $4.50 and includes homemade apple pie.
