  • Lucille "Lucy" Marjorie Gambill Tyler, 73, died after a sudden but brief illness on Oct. 12, 2013, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
    The family received friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas. A funeral service followed at 3 p.m. with Reverends Bob McCully and Walter Griggs officiating. A private entombment was held at Evergreen, A Quiet Place. Pallbearers were Perry Faile, John Ruff, Jas Taylor, Bill Morris, Dustin Scoggin and Tim Bowman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robin Johnson Hospice House c/o Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, N.C. 28054 or to The Kidney Foundation, 4819 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
    A native of Newark, she was born the daughter of the late Lloyd and Marjorie Fisher Gambill on Aug. 4, 1940. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas and attended Wednesday Bible Study at McAdenville Baptist Church. She was a hairdresser at A Cut Above in Lyons and retired as a patient services representative from Carolina Asthma and Allergy.
    Lucy is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Ann Fabino of Stanley, Sue Rabideau (Jim) of Rochester and Bonnie (Larry) Langworthy of Cloverdale, Ind.; grandchildren, Jaime (Perry) Faile, Jas Taylor, Dustin Scoggin (Taylor), Tracy (Adam) White, Chad Langworthy and Melaine (Tony) Pasquale; great-grandchildren, Shanan Major, Camryn and Lauren Hastings, Tyler, Caleb and Jordan Simcox, Meghan Odom, Braedon Taylor, Kensyn Scoggin, Shelby and Olivia White, Nathan and Justin Langworthy and Luke Pasquale; brother, Roger Gambill of Potsdam; sisters, Carol Reay of Williamson and Elaine (Luther) Bowman of Gastonia; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jim Shepard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Clinton Tyler Jr.; daughter, Cindi Tyler; brothers, Richard and Robert Gambill; and sister, Ester Gambill.
