NEWARK — The Newark Garden club encourages civic pride in the Newark Community. Since 1990, the club has annually recognized a business that has done outstanding work in landscaping and beautifying their property.
This year, the 2013 Civic Beautification Award was presented to Salvatore’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria, located at 205 South Main Street in Newark.
A recent addition to the Newark business community, Salvatore’s opened on Nov. 5, 2012. Handicapped on all sides by roads and parking lots from having in ground plantings, Salvatore’s creatively hung eight flower boxes on the front of their store under the windows. The purple, pink, and white petunias and sweet potato vine have thrived from early spring into the fall. Four wrought iron tables and chairs for outdoor dining further draw one’s attention to the beauty of the front of the pizzeria.
Garden Club ladies presented manager Jay Harrison with the award at the store. In addition to Salvatore’s, the Newark Garden Club appreciates and thanks all those businesses that help to beautify Newark. The Club is affiliated with the 7th District State Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. and the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
