Here's a recap of Saturday's local high school sports action, including a thrilling football game between Churchville-Chili and Spencerport that went down to the wire.
Churchville-Chili 42, Spencerport 41
In a back-and-forth contest that went down to the wire, it was an interception by Luke Tomczyk with 30 seconds left to play that sealed the victory for the Saints. John Iacucci was brilliant behind center for C-C, finishing 15 of 18 for 237 yards and rushing for 126 more on 11 carries and a pair of touchdowns. It was Iacucci who also converted on the game-winning two-point conversion. Standout wide receiver Austen Correia caught eight passes for 129 yards, making it the fourth time this season he reached the 100-yard plateau. Miles McKinney helped provide balance with an outstanding day, finishing with 11 carries for 144 yards and two more scores. For Spencerport (4-3), Tajh Eaddy ran wild for 244 yards and three TDs on just 24 carries. Churchville-Chili ends the regular season 5-2.
Red Jacket 28, Marcus Whitman 0
The Indians did the bulk of damage with a punishing ground game, led by junior running back Kory Fogarty, and a stout defense. Fogarty finished the game with three of his team's four touchdowns, while rushing for 235 yards on 23 carries. Red Jacket outgained the Wildcats, 416-133. Quarterback Lee Perry was efficient, going 8 for 11 for 86 yards passing to provide balance. Defensively, Andrew Ogrodowski was a force, finishing with 13 tackles. Red Jacket heads into sectionals with a 6-1 record, while Marcus Whitman finishes the regular season with a 3-4 mark.
Wilson 16, Webster Thomas 10
The key play was a 37-yard punt return for a touchdown by Wilson's Akinlawon Robinson as the Titans finish the season 1-6. Milan Hlywa had nine tackles and two sacks for Wilson (5-2).
Elba/BB 36, CG Finney 13
Brandon Naylor finished with 140 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries to lead Elba/BB to victory. On the defensive side, Andy Underhill had 24 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, while Steele Truax finished with 17 tackles. The Falcons finish the season 1-6.
McQuaid 21, Marshall 6
Bobby Molinari powered the Knights with 189 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries to close the season with a victory. Cole Purpura finished with 21 tackles and a fumble recovery for McQuaid (3-4).
Batavia 13, Greece Olympia 7
Gavin Pierce gave the Spartans a chance with a 63-yard kick return for a touchdown, but Olympia (2-5) was unable to get the offense going in the season finale. Brandon Stevenson led Batavia (3-4) with 204 yards rushing and both of the team's touchdowns.
Brighton 21, Greece Arcadia 0
Christian Thomas rushed 21 times for 235 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Barons to a victory in the final game of the regular season. Defensively, Justin Gudell had 13 tackles for Brighton (3-4). Arcadia finishes the season 0-7.
Greece Athena 20, Irondequoit 14
Athena quarterback Jamie Trimboli had an efficient afternoon, completing 8 of 13 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Trojans to victory, ensuring they will host a sectional playoff game next weekend. Yunis Ashkar had eight tackles and a pair of sacks for Athena, while teammate Vince Soeffing added 11 tackles. Irondequoit finishes the season 2-5.
Dundee 70, Lyons 0
The Scotsmen scored every which way and were never threatened after building a 21-0. Colin Prior needed just five carries to rush for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Paul Pollock rushed 10 times for 81 yards and two more scores. Jon Huber was unstoppable, returning three punts for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Huber also returned an interception 41 yards for another score. Justin Brace finished 10 for 10 for extra-point attempts.
Fairport 3, Victor 1
After the Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 win in the first set, the Red Raiders took the next three straight sets 25-27, 25-18, and 25-19.
