The Ontario Honda Section 5 Defensive and Offensive Players of the week were announced on Monday for week 7 of the high school football season.
Defensive players of the week
Fardon Allen, a junior strong safety from Rush Henrietta, had 18 total tackles and a fumble recovery in a 14-13 win over Pittsford.
Cole Purpura, a senior linebacker from McQuaid Jesuit, was in on 21 tackles and also forced and recovered a fumble in a 21-6 win over Marshall.
Ben Gardner, a senior defensive end from Newark, had a total of 21 total tackles, which was a school record, in a 20-7 win over Geneva.
Tyler Brion, a senior linebacker from Wellsville, had 14 total tackles, two forced fumbles, two quarterback hurries and a sack. Tyler also contributed offensively with 17 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-14 win over Letchworth.
Brandon Mynter, a junior defensive back from Avon, had a total of six tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception in a 38-23 loss to Bishop Kearney.
Kam DiSanto, a senior linebacker from Clyde-Savannah, had a fumble recovery, an interception and seven tackles in an 8-6 win over University Prep.
Offensive players of the week
Bam Akinniyi, a senior running back from Webster Schroeder, carried 22 times for 290 yards, averaging 13.2 yards and three touchdowns. He also had three receptions for 67 yards and three punt returns for 59 yards in a 39-7 win over Fairport.
John Iacucci, a senior quarterback from Churchville-Chili, completed 15 of 18 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed 11 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-41 win over Spencerport.
Mike English, a senior running back from Livonia, carried 30 times for 145 yards. He also had three receptions for 46 receiving yards and finished with a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown in a 28-7 win over Honeoye Falls-Lima.
Mike McMullen, a junior quarterback from LeRoy, completed 18 of 33 attempts for 191 yards and four passing touchdowns in a 34-29 loss to Caledonia-Mumford.
Kurtis Haut, a senior running back from Caledonia-Mumford, rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries. He also completed 2 of 3 pass attempts for 53 yards in a 34-29 win over LeRoy.
Nick Tambe, a senior wide receiver from Oakfield-Alabama, had five catches for 148 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-21 win over Holley.
