  • • Clyde man arrested for possession of drugs
    CLYDE — During a traffic stop on Sept. 22, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nicholas J. Marchitello, 17, of 31 Caroline St., Clyde, for criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.
    Marchitello was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, along with a pipe, and two-and-a-half Vicodin pills.
    He was released on appearance tickets and will appear in Galen Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Rochester man charged with burglary
    SODUS POINT — After returning from a vacation in early August, a Sodus Point couple found that their home had been entered while they were gone and several items, such as laptop computers, jewelry, money and gift cards, were missing.
    The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation, and on Sept. 23, they arrested David M. Smith, 31, of 49 Meigs St., Rochester, for second-degree burglary. Smith, reportedly an acquaintance of the couple, is currently on probation for grand larceny.
    He was arraigned in Sodus Town Court and committed to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. His case is expected to be heard by a Grand Jury in the near future.
    • Teen arrested for alleged bullying
    SODUS — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Sodus teen on Sept. 23 for second-degree aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.
    Hannah M. Riter, 16, of 22 Birch Circle, Sodus, was arrested on an alleged case of bullying by tweeting with a 14-year-old student at Sodus High School, making threatening statements about her.
    Riter was arraigned at Sodus Town Court and is to return at a later date to answer the charges. An order of protection was issued.
    • Man stopped for speeding, charged with DWI
    SAVANNAH — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Stephen R. Helmer, 27, of 8158 High St., Montezuma, for driving while intoxicated on Sept. 25.
    Helmer was observed by deputies on Route 31 in Savannah exceeding the state speed limit. After initially failing to yield, Helmer was stopped and found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and processed at the Sheriff’s Office where he was later released on appearance tickets.
    Helmer is scheduled to appear in Savannah Town Court at a later date to answer to charges of DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 percent or greater, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, open container and speed over state limit.
    • Ontario man arrested for violating probation
    ONTARIO — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Ontario man on Sept. 26 for a warrant for violation of probation.
    Coty VanCuyck, 18, who is reportedly homeless, was located at Patriot Drive in Ontario and taken into custody by patrol and probation.

    • Woman arrested for domestic dispute
    GALEN — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Cindy L. Dehavan, 35, of 11121 Route 31, Galen, for a domestic dispute involving a family member on Sept. 23.
    She was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment of person, unlawful imprisonment and harassment. It was alleged that Dehavan intentionally hit a family member in the head with a door, and is also accused of restraining a family member without permission after being repeatedly told to let go of the family member.
    Dehavan was arraigned in Galen Town Court and committed to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 insured bond. She is to return to court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Men arrested for petit larceny
    PALMYRA — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two Palmyra men for petit larceny following a complaint made by a passing CSX train that observed a suspicious vehicle with two male subjects removing metal from the railroad tracks.
    Taken into custody were Rene P. Laroche, 60, of 2304 Creek Road, Palmyra, and David K. Wagner, 42, of 424 E. Main St., Palmyra, after deputies stopped the vehicle as it was leaving the scene.
    Both men were issued appearance tickets and are to appear in Palmyra Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Man arrested following domestic dispute
    SODUS — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Timothy Brown, 47, of 7906 Ridge Road, Sodus, following an investigation into a domestic dispute on Oct. 1.
    Brown was charged with third-degree assault.
    He was arraigned in Sodus Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
    • Man charged with harassment, unlawful imprisonment
    HURON — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Timothy C. Verstraete, 47, of 6065 Powers Road, Wolcott, on Oct. 3.
    On Aug. 18, the Sheriff’s Office was called to a residence on Ridge Road in Sodus for a domestic dispute between Verstraete and his girlfriend. Before deputies arrived, Verstraete left the residence. It was discovered that during the domestic incident, Verstraete had slapped his girlfriend several times and would not let her leave when she attempted to do so.
    The Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate Verstraete but could not find him and a warrant was filed for his arrest for second-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree harassment. On Oct. 3, the New York State Police in Wolcott located Verstraete on a traffic stop.
    He was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office and transported to the Sodus Town Court. He was released on his own recognizance.
    • Man arrested for violating order of protection
    Page 3 of 4 - WALWORTH — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Charles Duffy, 35, of 610 Camelot Court, Canandaigua, for violating an order of protection.
    Duffy allegedly made phone contact with a protected person in the town of Walworth. A warrant was issued in the town of Walworth, with charges of first-degree criminal contempt of a court order and aggravated family offense, both felonies. Duffy was located and detained by New York State Police in Trumansburg.
    He was arraigned in Walworth Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $4,000 cash or $8,000 bond. He will appear in court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Rochester man charged with DWI
    MACEDON — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kyle M. Ramsey, 30, of 275 Richard St., Rochester, for driving while intoxicated on Oct. 5.
    Ramsey was initially stopped for speeding on Route 350 in the village of Macedon. After sobriety testing, Ramsey was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with an .08 percent BAC or more, and speeding.
    Ramsey was released on tickets and is to appear in Macedon Village Court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Man arrested for stalking
    MARION — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Timothy Rice, 39, of Birchwood Lane, Marion, for disorderly conduct and fourth-degree stalking on Oct. 5.
    It is alleged that Rice repeatedly acted in a manner likely to cause fear to his neighbor, also swore loudly outside.
    He was arraigned in Marion Town Court and released with a Stay Away Order of Protection. He will return to court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Woman arrested following traffic stop
    ONTARIO — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Diane L. Miller, 62, of 887 Clevenger Road, Ontario, following a traffic stop in Ontario on Oct. 5.
    Miller was arrested for moving from lane unsafely, driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated with a BAC greater than .08 percent. She was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Lyons for processing.
    She was given tickets and released and is to appear in Ontario Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
    • Man arrested for disorderly conduct
    WALWORTH — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ryan P. Dostman, 17, of Hennessey Road, Ontario, on Oct. 6, for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
    He was arrested after deputies responded to the report of a subject banging on the door of a Gananda residence. Deputies alleged that Dostman was found on the front porch of the residence in a highly intoxicated state and became irate with deputies as they approached him and began screaming at them. Dostman became combative with the deputies after being placed under arrest.
