  • A Palmyra woman was charged Tuesday with DWI-drugs and unsafe start after Palmyra police said the vehicle she was operating crashed into the Palmyra Post Office.
Sgt. James Showman said Suzanne T. Francis, 35, of 229 Stafford St., told police she got confused and hit the gas instead of the brake, and her car crashed into the foyer area of the building at 522 E. Main St. The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Showman said Francis was the only one in the vehicle, and no one was injured.
Francis was arraigned in Palmyra Village Court and released. She is scheduled to reappear in court Nov. 12.
Showman said it will be the responsibility of the post office to repair the building.
According to the post office, the schedule for repairs is unknown at this time.
The post office will be open today to customers, and business operations will continue as usual, according to the post office. Customers will be able to enter the building through the regular entrance.
