Today’s blog is written by Ellie, as Mark is is no condition to write (dictate). His condition is so poor, it has even impaired his sense of humor.  A vampire (nurse Colleen) came in to ‘take’ his blood and he didn’t even laugh. He feels so crappy, he doesn’t even want to see his BFFs.

As the title indicates, he is at “the nadir”, the point when his counts are at their lowest. His ability to fight infection, his energy level and his blood clotting ability are all at zero. This condition is expected to last a few more days at which time, the donor’s cells should start taking over.  The doctor tells us that the cells instinctively know that they are bone marrow cells and automatically re-start the “factory”.    Our bodies are amazing aren’t they?

So hopefully by this time next week, Mark will feel better and be ready to re- join the world. Stay tuned!
