NBC is developing a single-camera sitcom produced by Anne Heche with an eye towards her also starring in the series. Colette Burson is writing the script with Heche.
The project centers on Poppy Blake, a beauty department sales manager who questions love and relationships. Together with her opinionated sister, Chelsea, and her love-starved co-workers and department store clients, Poppy goes on a quest to determine "what love and sex really mean for women."
The untitled NBC comedy is a reunion of sorts for Heche and Burson. Burson was a creator and executive producer on HBO's Hung, which starred the actress.
NBC can't get enough of Heche. Her last Peacock network sitcom, this summer's short-lived Save Me, couldn't be saved - but this fall she appeared as a guest star on multiple episodes of NBC's The Michael J. Fox Show.
Heche also signed a first-look producing deal this year with Universal Television, which is behind this project. Heche's other TV credits include ABC's Men In Trees, while this is Burson's first half-hour project.
