LYONS — This month at the Lyons Public Library, there is an exhibit of JFK memorabilia in the display case.
From the private collection of Patricia Alena, some of the items in the collection are magazines and newspapers from the days following John Kennedy's assassination on Nov. 22, 1963. This year marks the 50th anniversary of his death. In addition to the magazines and newspapers there are collectible dishes, a memorial record album, campaign pins, postage stamps and a special TV Guide.
Kennedy was the youngest president elected to office, first president born in the 20th century and the first non-Protestant president. Sadly on Nov. 22, 1963, Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald while in a motorcade passing through Dallas, Texas.
The library also has a display of books about Kennedy, his presidency and assassination near the circulation desk. Stop by to see the display and check out one of the books. The library is located at 122 Broad St. with parking located in the back and accessible from Phelps Street near the Lyons Town Hall.
