LYONS — What a community service Troop 49008 from Lyons made to their hometown this past month.
In honor of their founder's birthday, Juliette Gordon Low, these girls, all 7th graders at the Lyons Middle School, along with help from two troop dads, made two see-saws to donate to the Trail of Hope. This trail is quickly growing and becoming a sought out place for visitors from all over.
The girls wanted to earn a badge, but create something that would make an impact that they would be remembered for. So along with their Cadette Woodworking badge, several wonderful community supporters that donated wood, time and materials the girls accomplished what they set out to do. The troop would like to thank Lucas Dobbins, The Laboda Family and The Sapp Family.
To test out the see-saws (children only please) visit the "Trail of Hope", it's located on Manhattan Street next to the Lyons Community Center and enjoy! — Linda Guest
