After 15 years as the Assistant to the Chairman/Communications Director at Camp Good Days, Laura Osborn is stepping down. Osborn is excited to announce that she will be moving to Florida and on to much warmer weather. Osborn was a big part of the day to day operations at Camp Good Days.
In Osborn’s honor, Camp Good Days held a reception on to honor her dedication to Camp Good Days. Camp Good Days Chairman Gary Mervis presented her with a brick with her name carved into it to be added to the organization’s Ring of Honor.
Osborn has been a major component to the success and organization of Camp Good Days, and she will be missed. She was a key part of the Project Exile Advisory Board, which has been taking illegal guns off the streets of Rochester for the last 15 years; a major resource in the success of Cancer Mission 2020, an initiative of Camp Good Days and Special Times to end cancer by the end of the decade; the driving force behind The Courage Bowl, an annual football game played by St. John Fisher College to benefit the children of Camp Good Days; and most importantly, the Assistant to the Chairman Gary Mervis, performing the duties of scheduling and meetings for Gary; among many other duties and responsibilities.
“Laura has been like a daughter to me,” said Mervis. “We’re sad to see her go and know it will be difficult to replace someone like Laura. We’re happy for her and we wish her the very best as she begins her life in Florida.”
At this time, Camp Good Days has decided to split up Osborn’s responsibilities amongst current staff members by promoting Christina Woods to Assistant to the Chairman. Christina has been a part of Camp Good Days for 16 years, and has been the Camp Director for four years. Woods is a graduate of SUNY Brockport, and began working with Camp Good Days as a volunteer in 1998. Woods will continue as Camp Director through the 2014 summer, as Camp Good Days is going through re-accreditation with the American Camping Association.
Camp Good Days has also promoted Phil Martello to Communications Director. Martello has worked for Camp Good Days for one year as the Social Media Manager and is a 2012 graduate of St. John Fisher College. He graduated with a degree in Communication/Journalism.
“The motto at Camp Good Days is ‘Adapt & Adjust’ and we find ourselves living it more every day,” said Mervis. “We’re confident that Chrissy and Phil can transition into their new roles and continue to succeed in enhancing Camp Good Days. We’re excited to see them grow into their new roles within the organization.”
