  • An investigation is ongoing for a report of shots fired early Sunday morning on Bristol Street, Sgt. Scott Kadien of the City of Canandaigua Police Department said Monday morning.
Police said they came upon a disturbance at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the Bristol Street parking lot. Kadien said the disturbance involved a group of a large number of people engaged in a verbal altercation. Police were told a male, who was involved with the disturbance, threatened use of a gun. He then fled on foot, police were told.
Moments later, officers heard shots fired to the west of the parking lot, police said.
An investigation found several empty shell casings located in the area in front of 64 Bristol St., according to police. There are no reports of injuries.
Kadien said police searched for about two and a half hours for the suspect in the area of Bristol Street between South Pearl and Bemis streets, but were unable to locate the suspect. Police are looking for the suspect, who is described as a black male, approximately 25 years old, about 5'8" tall with a thin build and wearing a red vest.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the City of Canandaigua Police Department at (585) 394-3311.
New York state police and the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, including a K-9 unit, assisted in the investigation.
