PALMYRA — The Palmyra-Macedon High School Chorus and Select Choir will join forces to present their annual Winter Choral Concert.
The event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Palmyra-Macedon High School Performing Arts Center. As a special treat, the newly formed Hand Bell Choir will perform prelude music preceding the concert, which will begin at 7:15 p.m. The High School Chorus will perform some seasonal favorites, including Adeste Fideles, On With the Snow and Hine ma Tov.
In addition, the ensemble will perform “The Shepherd’s Chorus” from the children’s opera Amahl and the Night Visitors, which will feature guest soloists Dr. Robert Ike (Superintendent of Schools), Mr. Andy Wahl (High School Principal and former Select Choir member), and Mr. Christopher Oaks (High School Math Teacher, Girls’ Swim Coach, and former Select Choir member). Audience members will be invited to join in an audience Sing-A-Long between choruses.
The Select Choir will begin their portion of the concert with the traditional Silent Night processional, sung by candlelight. Their performance will also include Amani, Non Nobis Nomine, and the humorous Throw the Yule Log On, Uncle John.
Select Choir Alumni are invited to join us for the final piece of the concert, Handel’s Hallelujah.
Please join us to celebrate the talents of our high school vocal music students. A brownie sundae fundraiser reception will follow the concert. All proceeds will benefit the Select Choir’s upcoming performances in New York City.
The Choir will be collecting canned goods and foods for the local food pantries. Boxes will be located outside of the auditorium doors. Please enjoy the concert and help others in need.
