NEWARK Excitement filled the air as 'little ears' heard Santa ringing his bell upon arrival at the Newark Elks Lodge. Some of the children sat on the Big Guy's lap and told him what they'd like to see under their tree on Christmas morning while others decided to remain at a 'safe distance' from him. Each child received a bulging Christmas stocking filled with candy, stuffed animals, puzzles, sticker kits and Magic Rubik Cubes.
Before Santa's arrival, the children played Pin the Carrot Nose on the Snowman and Pass the Snowball. Eli Vanshaffel won the below 4 year old competition, Ave Nellis won in the 5-7 group and Samantha Johnson won for the 8-10 division. Parents, grandparents and children all enjoyed sampling the many platters of goodies made by the Elks Elves!
A special thanks to Ann Rease, Newark Elks Esteemed Loyal Knight, who coordinated the event, Sharon VerHeecke, and to all those who contributed to the holiday fun. A big thank you to Bernie Henson for his part in the day's smiles and cheer.
