    Thompson opens family practice in Macedon
    Thompson Health officially opened its first Wayne County location on Dec. 2. The health system’s newest family practice, the Macedon Kachoria Family Practice, is located at 1033 Route 31 in Macedon.
    The practice was donated to Thompson by Dr. Lekrhaj B. Kachoria who, after nearly 40 years of practicing in Macedon, is retiring to pursue volunteer medical service in Botswana as well as other opportunities.
    Family Nurse Practitioner Susan Quinn of Thompson is providing medical services to existing and new patients at the practice, where she is currently joined one day per week by Dr. Susan Rockwell of Thompson’s Shortsville Family Practice. Thompson is in the process of recruiting a full-time physician for the Macedon location.
    Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. until 5:45 p.m., the Macedon Kachoria Family Practice is accepting new patients of all ages. For information, call 986-2100.

    Lyons Bancorp announces year-end dividend
    The Board of Directors of Lyons Bancorp Inc., the holding company for The Lyons National Bank, approved a special year-end dividend of 3 cents per common share to all shareholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 31.
    The dividend will be paid on Jan. 15. In addition to the special dividend, the board also approved the regular quarterly dividend of 33 cents per common share, payable to all shareholders of record on Dec. 31 and again payable Jan. 15.
    “The Board approved the dividends partially as a thank you to our shareholders for their continued support and confidence,” Robert A. Schick, President and Chief Executive Officer said. “Without their investment, we would not have been able to grow our franchise at the pace we have over the past few years.”

    Ultralife Corporations reports third quarter results
    Ultralife Corporation reported its 2013 results for the quarter ending Sept. 29.
    Ultralife reported operating income from continuing operations of $.7 million on revenue of $20.4 million for the 2013 third quarter. The company reported an operating income from continuing operations of $1.8 millions on revenue of $26.2 million for the same quarter last year.
    Ultralife reported a 22 percent decline in revenue from $26.2 million in 2012 to $20.4 million in 2013. Battery and energy products sales declined by $3.1 million and communications systems sales declined by $2.7 million from the same period the previous year.
    Gross profit for the company was $6.1 million or 30.1 percent of revenue, compared to 31.4 percent the previous year.
    Operating expenses declined $1 million, or 15 percent, from the previous year due to reductions in general and administrative expense. Operating profit was $.7 million compared to $1.8 million the previous year.

    Taney joins LNB’s marketing department
    The Lyons National Bank (LNB) is pleased to announce the addition of Barbara H. Taney as its new Director of Marketing. Taney will be responsible for developing, planning and implementing the Bank’s marketing plan to include market research, product development, advertising and public relations.
    Taney joins LNB with over 15 years of marketing experience, most recently in the healthcare industry where she was a Marketing Specialist with Finger Lakes Health.
    She resides in Geneva with her husband Robert and has two children, Liza and Jack.
    • TOPS Friendly Markets returns to local ownership
    Tops Friendly Markets (the “Company”), a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and western Vermont, announced today that the previously announced acquisition of Tops Holding II by a group of senior managers of the Company led by Tops president and CEO, Frank Curci, closed on December 1st.
    During the past six years under Curci’s leadership, Tops has more than doubled its number of stores, added new jobs and expanded is geographic reach into eastern and northern New York, Vermont and northern Pennsylvania. In April, 2013 Tops also opened Orchard Fresh a specialty and gourmet food store in Orchard Park, NY.

    Nozzolio and Oaks announce assistance for Electromark employees
    In response to a direct request to Commissioner Peter Rivera, New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio and Assemblyman Bob Oaks were advised that the New York State Department of Labor would begin immediate steps to mobilize a Rapid Response Team to provide unemployment assistance, job training and new job opportunities to employees who will be displaced as a result of Electromark’s decision to close their Wolcott facility.
    Page 3 of 3 - Senator Mike Nozzolio and Assemblyman Bob Oaks have been working aggressively with the New York State Department of Labor to help ensure that every affected employee is given the resources and support they need to find new employment.
    “We must do everything possible to support the individuals and families affected by the closure of Electromark," said Nozzolio. "This important assistance from the New York State Department of Labor will help ensure that each employee receives the services and assistance they need. We will continue to work with the Department of Labor to ensure that retraining funds and assistance are made available to the over 100 employees affected by this decision.”
