A 70-year-old Fairport man is facing charges after sheriff's deputies say his gun accidentally discharged inside a restaurant.
John Cassata is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony.
According to deputies, Cassata and a friend, 67-year-old Charles Raab, were at the Cottage Hotel in Mendon on Saturday afternoon. Investigators say Cassata and Raab were sitting at a table together when Cassata decided to show his firearm to Raab. Deputies say the gun accidentally went off and the bullet went through Cassata's hand, grazed his leg and then grazed Raab's ankle. No one else in the restaurant was injured. Both men were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Cassata war arraigned in Mendon Town Court and released in lieu of $1,000 bail.
