Jane Kaczmarek has booked a multi-episode guest-starring arc on USA's new comedy Playing House, the network announced Tuesday. The Malcolm in the Middle alum will play Gwen, the extremely opinionated estranged mother of Emma (Jessica St. Clair).
The series tells the story of Emma and Maggie (Lennon Parham), childhood best friends who decide to raise a baby together after Maggie discovers that her husband is having an online affair.
Gwen comes back into town to see if she can repair her relationship with her daughter, and also finds herself in a middle renaissance, writing beat poetry and channeling her inner hippie.
Playing House is scheduled to premiere in the spring. Parham and St. Clair are also executive-producing the series.
