LYONS — Lyons Public Library, 122 Broad St., Lyons, will continue it's Science Fiction Film Fest at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.
This year’s winter film series at the Lyons Public Library is all about classic science fiction from one of the earliest movies in 1927 to the post-war decade of the 1950’s.
The titles were hard to choose since there is so much out there. However, thanks to this great website, the list was whittled done to these fun, quirky and often well acted films.
The films will be shown on Saturdays, Feb. 1 and 15, March 1 and 15 at 2 p.m. in the Community Room at the Library. A short discussion will follow each film. Hot chocolate and popcorn are provided.
The first movie, “The Thing from Another World”, from 1927 was directed by Fritz Lang, a German expressionist. The plot revolves around the sharply divided working class and the city planners and one person from each class whom fall in love and hope to resolve the differences between the two groups.
The schedule of titles can be picked up at the Library or call 946-9262 for more information.
