Money announced for community health in Finger Lakes region
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield announced Tuesday that nonprofits and municipalities in the Finger Lakes region can apply for a share of $35,000 available in Community Health Awards for programs targeting chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease, and mental health conditions.
Nonprofits, organizations and municipalities in Excellus BlueCross BlueShield’s six-county Finger Lakes region may apply for awards of up to $5,000 each. Grants can be used for programs that have clear goals to improve the health of a specific population in the community through the prevention of chronic diseases or mental health conditions.
To be eligible, the organization must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or a municipality located in Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Livingston, Seneca or Yates County.
The deadline to submit an application to be considered for an Excellus BCBS Community Health Award is Feb. 17, 2014. Applications and additional information are available online at Community Health Awards or by emailing Community.Health.Awards.ROC@excellus.com. Applications received after the Feb. 17 deadline will not be considered. Awards will be distributed in March 2014.
