Roc the Run
I started blogging about running in 2009 on Runnersworld.com as RocTheRun and found I wanted a place of my own to put all my own thoughts and adventures in writing. Over the years my topics of writing drifted away from simply Rochester and more diverse topics.

I am an avid and passionate runner living in Greece, NY. I tell my stories about the Rochester and Western NY running scene in a unique way while sprinkling in goals of motivating others to start running, keep running, and love running. When I am not running or writing about running, I am hiking the Adirondak Mountains, the Finger Lakes Trail, snowshoeing the trails and hills of Western NY, or canoeing the waterways of New York State.

Running is a lifestyle for me, it always has been it always will be. This blog will closely follow my running, but also my life here in Rochester. The way I run and the reasons I run are often a direct result of what is happening in my day to day life.

Back to work

This weekend we are off to Lake Placid for the annual snowshoe trip

What a month it’s been – I have only worked a few days in the past month with break, vacation, and then a death in the family and boy has my training suffered. January was a fresh start for me – It turned into parties – beer – stress – and less.

Last night we hit PowderMills Park  - it was cold – negative temps cold – and I found out on the first hill that I am out of shape – All the beer and lack of running has set me back. Good news is that it’s only 3 weeks set back – Bad news is – That’s 3 weeks I won’t get back on my road to the Dam Good Trail Race.

I registered for Medved Madness over the weekend. I am signed up for Dam Good – I know I will run many of the TROY races, and we are all signed up for the Shamrock Run – I am going to be racing more this year, it’s time to buckle down. It was great to be back on the trails last night – It will be even better to being back on them and moving fast again!

I am looking forward to Lake Placid this weekend – the mountains in Utah were amazing – I can’t wait to hit the trail head again.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
