Prosecutors say a Pittsford man will serve 10 years of supervised release after he was convicted on child pornography charges.
Prosecutors say 21-year-old old Michael Mercadel downloaded and shared pornographic images of children under 12-years-old on a file sharing network. The U.S. Attorney’s offices discovered the images during an undercover operation where they downloaded images from Mercadel. Investigators say a search warrant at Mercadel’s residence revealed more images of children engaging in sexual behavior.
The case is part of Project Childhood, a program which works to combat child sexual exploitation.
