  • The Walworth Road bridge has been downgraded by the state to a carrying capacity of 16 tons.
“It impedes us,” said Macedon Town HIghway Superintendent Dick Roets, explaining that he can no longer send a fully loaded snow-plowing truck over the bridge.
The plowing route in the area usually includes the northern side of the bridge, then the southern, but now his drivers will have to empty two-thirds of their load before crossing.
He said the situation might be similar to what happened on the bridge on Canandaigua Road that was downgraded repeatedly, to the point where it is now closed. Plans are in the works to rehabilitate that bridge as early as next year.
