Rochester has it’s share of Bills fans and on any given game night you could find fans in some of the local bars, like Matthews on east avenue.
Local residents were talking about the Bills and thinking about Ralph Wilson’s leadership. People like Justin Walker expressed concerns about the future of the team. He says support for the bills stretches from western to central New York.
“It’s definitely sad news. He's been the owner for so long. It's sad because they've been around the area so long; they have a lot of diehard fans from Buffalo, Syracuse, and Rochester. So it would be sad to see them go, but hopefully they wouldn't go too far,” said Walker.
Bill Lawler says he was a bills fan long before you could even watch them on TV. He has followed the Bills and Ralph Wilson and says this is a sad day for the franchise, but he says his faith in the team will not waiver and he hopes other fans remain positive.
“He will be missed and hopefully the Bills fans won't give up hope. It’s all about faith being a Bills fan the last 20 years. But I’ve been a fan for 30 years,” said Lawler.
Lawler says his only wish for Wilson would be that he could have experienced a Super Bowl win before he died.
