On Feb. 14, volunteers delivered over 400 18-inch red mylar heart-shaped balloons to the 190 residents of the Wayne County Nursing Home. On each of the balloons there was a hand written personalized message to the resident.  It was indeed a special Valentine’s Day. The volunteers brought love and cheer to the residents and they in turn were greeted with smiles bright with joy.

Balloons were ordered by family members, friends and staff. For residents not receiving a balloon order, support was received from the Palmyra-Macedon Rotary Club, the Lyons American Legion Post, the Palmyra American Legion Post, the Palmyra Vol Fire Auxiliary, the Newark Rotary Club, Lyons Rotary Club and the Wolcott Lions Club. We are very grateful for their support. Donations for balloons were also received from staff members, friends and families who donated for other residents. These donations enabled the Foundation to provide balloons to all of the residents.

A number of staff also received balloons as a way to say thank you for all that you do to make the Wayne County Nursing Home “a loving home away from home.”

The Valentine Balloon Project is a Fundraiser for the Wayne County Nursing Home Foundation. The Board of Directors chose this project as it spoke to their mission to enhance the quality of life for the residents of the Nursing Home. Any funds realized are used to purchase monthly birthday dinners from a local restaurant for the residents.
