Lyons Elks Lodge No. 869, participating under the State Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program, has recently completed clean-up along a two mile section of Route 31 west of the village of Lyons and ending at the Wayne County Highway Department Complex facility.
The Lyons Elks Lodge members pick up litter and debris along the highway several times throughout the year. Under this program, which began in New York State several years ago, volunteer groups and organizations assist in beautifying stretches of State highways and helping to keep them free of litter.
Any organizations desiring details on the Adopt-A-Highway Program can call the New York State Department of Transportation Office in Newark at 332-4000 for information.
