On Feb. 17, Newark Pack No. 138 had their Blue and Gold Banquet at the Marbletown Fire Hall in Newark.

There were many families who came out to support the great achievement of the Cub Scouts earning their rank. This year we had seven Tiger Cubs, four Wolf Cubs, nine Bear Cubs, and four Webelos earning their badges as well as other achievements. Since July 2012, the boys have been attending monthly pack meetings, weekly or biweekly den meetings since September, and other events and activities to earn their specific rank. The cubs and families have worked extremely hard to complete the various requirements throughout the past months. A huge congratulation to each of the scouts for a job well down.

The Cub Scouts would also like to thank the Marbletown Fire Hall for letting them hold their banquet at their facility and Wegmans in Newark for donating a sheet cake for the families. The scouts would also like to send a sincere “thank you” to their leaders, Joanne Campbell-Henehan, Elise Comella, Bob Hegeman, Troy Horton, Jon and Tara McShanley, and Jason Youngman, and committee members who volunteer their time and energy, and to all the parents and families members for their support.

A special “thank you” goes out to Jim Crawford, Cub Master for Pack No. 138. He has countless hours planning and participating in events and activities for the Cub Scouts. He has brought the Pack to a place where boys are having fun and interested in Cub Scouting.

Anyone interested in joining scouting in the Newark or local areas, contact Seneca Waterways Council in Rochester at (585) 244-4210 or visit their website at www.senecawaterways.org and get started today. Tell them Pack No. 138 sent you. Pack No. 138 is always looking for new recruits to join them.
