For the seventh time in 11 years, a Wayne County Nursing Home employee has been the recipient of the annual Long Term Care Employee of Distinction Award.

A selection committee made up of representatives from the legislature, state regulatory agencies and other advocacy agency agreed that Melissa Weimer, a Cook at Wayne County Nursing Home for 9 years should receive the award.

“Melissa was nominated for this award based on her creativity, enthusiasm, commitment and compassion for the residents of this nursing home,” said Margaret Haroff, administrator of the Wayne County Nursing Home.  

Presenting the award from LeadingAge (formerly New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging) as well as the State Resolution honoring Weimer was Elliott Frost, director of ProCare at LeadingAge. Assisting in the ceremony on Oct. 11 was James Hoffman, chairman of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors; Ken Miller, Palmyra town supervisor; and James Marquette, county administrator.
