Authorities say no one has been injured after a car stuck on railroad tracks on Quaker Road, in Macedon, was hit by an Amtrak passenger train, splitting the vehicle in half and pushing it nearly a mile down the tracks.
According to Amtrak, the train hit the car around 8 p.m. Thursday.
The car’s driver, Daniel Drake, 38, of Fairport, and his passengers got out of the car shortly before the train hit the vehicle, police said.
No one aboard the train was injured. The passengers were taken by bus to Rochester’s Amtrak station.
Drake was charged with failure to keep right after he allegedly drove off the roadway and became lodged on the tracks, police said.
All train traffic reopened at 12:40 p.m. The train was repaired and removed to Rochester, police said.
