In recognition of his continuing efforts to make New York State more competitive by creating additional opportunities for small businesses to grow, expand and create well paying new jobs,  State Senator Mike Nozzolio has been honored by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) with its “Guardian of Small Business” award. The award is the highest award given by the NFIB and it recognizes Senator Nozzolio’s strong commitment and support of New York's independent small business owners.

“Independent businesses are the catalyst for new job growth in our State. They are integral to rebuilding our economy and creating a better future for our State and Nation,” said Nozzolio. “It is an honor to receive this award and I commend the NFIB and Mike Durant, New York’s Executive Director,  for their unwavering support of our State’s job-producing independent businesses.”

“Senator Nozzolio has long been a friend of New York’s small business owners, job creators and entrepreneurs, fighting for tax relief and regulatory reform. Senator Nozzolio recently joined with NFIB members to fight back a proposed 45 percent thruway toll increase that would have devastated businesses all across our State. The costs associated with this increase would have been passed on to consumers and would have raised grocery prices and weakened New York’s economic recovery. We are grateful for Senator Nozzolio’s support and strong leadership and are proud to recognize him with the Guardian of Small Business award, NFIB’s highest honor,” said Mike Durant, New York State's Executive Director.

The National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) is the nation’s leading small business advocacy association.  Founded in 1943, the  NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their members. NFIB’s mission is to promote and protect the right of business owners to own, operate and grow their businesses.
