In December, the Newark High School Interact Club conducted the weekly meeting for the Newark Rotary Club.
Interact is Rotary’s Service Club for youth ages 12-18. The goals of Interact include developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work, and advancing international understanding and goodwill. That day the members learned how to conduct a meeting.
They spoke about their service projects for the year. Marina Ruffalo spoke about her experience at RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. RYLA is Rotary’s leadership training program for young people. She attended the 3-day event last June.
NHS Interact Club will be organizing fundraising for schools effected by Sandy and then will be fundraising to purchase a shelter box for those effected by natural disasters
