• Admitted to citizenship at Lyons court were Charles Naayaart, a Hollander, and Harry King.

• Ad - Sit Back & Relax - Player Pianos Sold & Serviced - O.C. Robinson, the Jeweler.

• Ad - The Paige "36" automobile - $1,275 F.O.B. Detroit - Farnsworth & Welcher Store, Garnargua Valley - Phone 65-J.

• J.J. Hoffmeyer purchased a delivery auto for his meat and grocery business.

• Arthur G. Schulz, an employee of J. Stuerwald Funeral Parlor,  left for the Renouvard School of Embalming.

• A.N. Christy was running for village President on both tickets.

• Ad - Eight Year Old Whiskey - Found in Government Warehouse - Available at C.S. Hanks Drug Store.

March  9, 1938

• One of Newark's oldest religious buildings, the Christian Church on East Miller St., was purchased by the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. The building was once located in Marbletown.

• F. Neff Stroup, 53, former Supt. of Newark Schools, died after a long illness.

• The Service Class of the Methodist Church planed a Tureen Supper.

• Tony DeMott, and Ed Farrell teamed up ring in a 1297 score in Class A bowling doubles.

• Ad - 1933 REO Truck - a bargain at $95 - Newark Motors.

March 14, 1963

• Little Peggy Jo Huebeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Huebeler, was shown performing a dance routine in the Newark Girl Scout Talent Show.

• Playing at Park Presbyterian Church - The Coalgate University Glee Club, sponsored by the Women's Association - Tickets $1.50.

• Services were held for the late Charles H. Perkins at St. Mark's Church. Perkins began his career in roses at the age of 12.

• Officers of the Future Nurses Club at Newark High School - Dona Ryckbost, Diane Ryckbost, and Elaine DeMay.

• Ad - Nearly New Split Level Home - One and a Half Baths - Large Lot - $23,000 - Chet Crosby, Realtor.

March 18, 1988

• After years of negotiating, the Newark village board approved a new Pal-Mart store on North Main St.

• Open at the Street of Shops behind Pudgies Pizza, was T.T. Clock Shop, Donna's Books, and Pepper's Shoe Repair.

• Newark High School wrestling award winners were Scott Rush, Corey Comer, Heath Rush, Jeff Fox, Mark Johnson, Paul Cole, Roger LaClair, and Jonathan Side.

• Bob Goodman, Newark Community Development Director, tried his hand at being a standup comic at a Newark Village Board meeting and took pot shots at the news media. Goodman claimed that the old good press that he would ever get would be his own obituary.

• Local resident and businessman Dave Lagana was appointed to the Newark Planning Board.
