• Tony DeMott, and Ed Farrell teamed up ring in a 1297 score in Class A bowling doubles.

• Newark High School wrestling award winners were Scott Rush, Corey Comer, Heath Rush, Jeff Fox, Mark Johnson, Paul Cole, Roger LaClair, and Jonathan Side.
• Bob Goodman, Newark Community Development Director, tried his hand at being a standup comic at a Newark Village Board meeting and took pot shots at the news media. Goodman claimed that the old good press that he would ever get would be his own obituary.
