A fellow soldier has been charged in connection with the death of 25-year-old Fairport soldier, Pfc. Grant Wise.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, the U.S. Army has charged Spc. Marshal D. Drake with the "negligent" killing of Wise.

Wise was found dead from a single gunshot wound in another soldier's barracks room at
an Army base in Achorage, Alaska, on Christmas morning.

A statement from the Army said  that Drake, 23, failed to disclose and register his personally owned firearm upon entering Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardsonon, in Alaska where he was assigned in 2010.

Drake is originally from South Carolina and served in Afghanistan from Dec. 2011 to Oct. 2012.

Wise graduated from Fairport High School in 2006 and joined the Army in 2011. He is survived by both parents and two brothers.

The military's Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation into the incident. Further details were not available.
