Palmyra
Man charged with sexual abuse

Following a special investigation that occured March 10 at 943 Archie Parrot Drive in Palmyra, Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies arrested David E. Converse, 25, of that address, and charged him with first-degree sexual abuse and forcible touching. It is alleged that the defendant touched a 19-year-old female without her permission. He was arraigned at the Marion Town Court and held on bail. Converse is scheduled to return to the Palmyra Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

Man allegedly attacks victim

Overton L. Johnson, 17, of 214 Sweed Road, Arcadia, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies after a violent family altercation on Feb. 25.
It is alleged that Johnson violently attacked a family member over not being able to use the car. The family member was able to break away briefly to obtain assistance from a neighbor. Once the female neighbor got on scene, Johnson attacked her. The neighbor, after being attacked, called a family member to also come assist. Once on scene, Johnson attacked him by punching him in the face and breaking his glasses. At this point, the male neighbor called 911 for help. Upon the sheriff’s deputies’ arrival, the situation was quickly brought under control.
Johnson was charged with obstructing governmental administration, two counts of third-degree felony criminal mischief, two counts of second-degree harassment, one count of third-degree assault, one count of third-degree menacing, one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Johnson was arraigned before Arcadia Town Justice Williams and was committed to the Wayne County Jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond. He is to reappear at a later date to answer the charges.

Unlicensed driver nabbed for DWI

A Newark man was charged Jan. 26 with felony first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or more and failing to dim headlights, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Eric M. Gallivan, 36, of 3 Marie Ave., was stopped on Route 31 in Lyons and allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol and to be driving without a license, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.

Man allegedly violates court order

Harold R. Jacobs, 57, of 2880 Macedon Center Road, Palmyra, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies following a reported disturbance on Quaker Road in Palmyra on Feb. 28. Jacobs allegedly violated a Stay Away order of protection involving an ex-girlfriend. He was arraigned in Palmyra Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

Sodus
Police: Man slapped, punched victims

Nelson W. David, 33, of 33 Curtis Ave., Sodus, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies following a domestic incident at his residence on Feb. 21. David allegedly injured two family members by slapping and punching them in the face. He was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and arraigned in the Sodus Town Court. Two orders of protection were issued for the victims, and David was remanded to the Wayne County Jail on $1,000 cash or $2,000 bail bond. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the State Police and Sodus Ambulance personnel.

Man charged following domestic

Herland W. Bouwens III, 29, of 2396 Ford Road, Arcadia, was arrested Feb. 20 by the Wayne County Sherrif’s Office for first-degree criminal contempt, third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred August 2012. Bouwens had a domestic incident with a female and allegedly caused an injury to her while in the presence of a child.
He was arraigned in County Court and was remanded to the Wayne County Jail on $3,000 cash bail or $6,000 insurance bond.

Woman charged after accident

A Lyons woman was charged Jan. 25 with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or more and failing to reduce speed for the special hazards, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Connie Knapp, 46, of 2122 Layton St. Road, was traveling north on Maple Street Road on a snow and ice covered road, allegedly failing to reduce her speed and slid off the roadway, deputies said.
She was issued appearance tickets for Lyons Town Court and released.

Man allegedly chokes victim

A Lyons man was charged Jan. 22 with criminal obstruction of breathing and fourth-degree criminal mischief, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Kenneth G. Vankoevering Jr., 37, of 7537 Old Lyons Road, Lot 6, allegedly choked his girlfriend during a domestic dispute, deputies said. He then allegedly broke a door punching it in an attempt to get back in the residence.
He was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.

Alleged fugitive charged

Steven M. Perry, 49, of 112 Sawyer Place, Rochester, was arrested Feb. 26 for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operation of a motor vehicle while the registration is suspended or revoked after being stopped by Gates Police Department. When it was determined that he had a warrant out of the town of Ontario, he was transported to Wayne County and turned over to the Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies. He was taken to Ontario Town Court and arraigned on the warrant. He was remanded to Wayne County Jail and will reappear at Ontario Town Court at a later date.
When Perry was being bailed out of the Wayne County Jail, corrections staff found that he was wanted in the state of Florida on several unresolved burglary and grand larceny charges. Perry was initially in jail on traffic charges stemming from the town of Ontario. Sheriff’s investigators arraigned Perry in the Arcadia Town Court as a fugitive from justice. He was then committed back to the Wayne County Jail without bail. He will remain there until Florida authorities make arrangements for his return to Pasco County, Florida.

Sex offender charged

Glenn B. Mattison Jr., 48, of Williamson, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 27 for failure to provide a current photograph under the New York State Corrections Law. Being a level 2 sex offender, Mattison failed to report to the Wayne County Sheriff’s records office within 20 days of his annual registration. After his arrest, he was transported to the town of Sodus before Judge Putnum and remanded to the Wayne County Jail without bail. He is to reappear in the town of Williamson on  March 6 to answer the charge pending.

Man charged with sex abuse

A Sodus man was charged Jan. 28 with third-degree sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of a child and forcible touching, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Adam R. Kendt, 27, of 6264 Buerman Road, allegedly had sexual contact with a 14-year-old juvenile, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Sodus Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bail bond.

Fairville
Man injured in crash

Wayne County Office of the Sheriff investigated a single-car personal injury accident on Minsteed Road in the town of Arcadia on Feb. 27. The operator, David Staiger, 44, of Wilson Street in Newark, was northbound on Minsteed Road when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway to the east. The vehicle collided with a tree into the driver’s side door. Staiger had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported via ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Fairville and Newark fire departments, and Fairville and NAVA ambulances.

Man allegedly tackles girlfriend

A Lyons man was charged Jan. 21 with third-degree assault and aggravated criminal contempt, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Ricky P. Duval, 47, of 2186 Brandt Road, Lot 7, allegedly tackled and punched his girlfriend after she tried to run away from him, violating a court order to stay away from the victim, deputies said. The victim was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
He was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.

WILLIAMSON
Man charged with DWI following crash

Wayne County sheriff’s deputies charged Adam J. Noto II, 25, of Williamson, on Friday, Feb. 8 with driving while intoxicated following a one-car crash.
Deputies said Noto was driving north on Townline Road and lost control of his vehicle and crashed. Besides DWI, he was issued multiple traffic tickets and is to appear in Williamson Town Court at a later date.

Man arrested on warrant

A Williamson man was charged Jan. 22 with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Anthony B. Smouse, 29, of 4659 Ridge Road, was arrested upon his release from the Monroe County Jail on a warrant for domestic incident that occurred last August, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Williamson Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail.
