Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Sunday that President Barack Obama has approved the governor's request for a federal emergency declaration for the entire State of New York.
The declaration will allow federal agencies to assist and provide resources to New York State and local governments to support activities related to any possible evacuations, sheltering and other protective measures.
The declaration will also allow federal entities to assist with other assistance like debris cleanup, and electric power generation.
The storm is expected to pass through the area at some point on Monday and could last through late Tuesday.
